Volvo is developing a new V60 Polestar

Autoblog has captured a new Volvo V60 Polestar being tested at the Nurburgring.  Painted in Rebel Blue the Polestar V60 is expected to be powered by Volvo's 3-litre 6-cylinder turbocharged engine and produce in the order of 350bhp.

The standard V60 T6 has 304bhp, costs £41k and does 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds via four wheel drive and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The Polestar V60 is expected to be hotter in every area of performance than the T6.  Volvo initially planned for a Polestar V40 but instead decided to concentrate on the V60.

There is a chance that the car could be launched only in Australia, which it is using as a testbed for Polestar tuning and products.  Volvo has big ambitions and part of that is for Polestar to rival BMW's M-Division, Audi's quattro and Mercedes' AMG as its own in-house tuner.

We'll find out soon enough the specs of the V60 Polestar, and which markets are going to get it.  Volvo is taking the V60 to the US for the first time in 2014.
