We're back: 1419 miles in 4 days on a motorcycle

The Great Speedmonkey Bike Trip is over and the four of us, road weary and worn but happy, have returned to our families and our jobs.
We squeezed in an enormous amount of miles over 4 days and 3 nights.  We rode through the most amazing scenery Scotland has to offer, and in the best weather Scotland has seen in a decade.

The bikes - Nick's Harley Davidon 883 Iron, Robin's Kawasaki ZXR 1200, Colin's Honda VFR 800 and my Triumph Street Triple - could not have been more different from each other yet all performed without fault.

We rode over mountains, alongside lochs, over washboard surface tracks, up and down steep hills, round hairpin bends, through forests and along mile long straights with nothing but heathland either side of us.  Each bike and each rider found their own strengths but we stayed together the entire trip.

It was an epic trip that would not have been so good without the company.  We ate haggis and disgusting burgers, filled up with fuel at least 10 times each, stayed in 3 very different bed and breakfasts, smoked hundreds of cigarettes, sampled many different local ales, marvelled at the sights and rode mile after mile along amazing roads in awesome places.

No doubt I'll write some more about it.  For now I'm back, and with a slightly different (laid-back) perspective on life - don't know how long that will last.
