100 acre tyre graveyard in Kuwait

This is a massive tyre graveyard in Sulaibiya, Kuwait City. It measures 100 acres, or 40.5 hectares and is filled with 7 million tyres. The tyres have come from Kuwait and other countries that pay Kuwait to take them.

None should have come from the UK where it's illegal to dump tyres in landfill. Instead they are recycled to make roads, carpet underlay, equine menages and, most sensibly, to line race tracks.

Here's a video of a fire that broke out at a tyre dump elsewhere in Kuwait on 17 April where 5 million tyres were burnt, sending huge coulds of black smoke into the aether.
