In a slow week for new cars this is the best we could come up with

You may have noticed an absence of new cars on Speedmonkey recently.  We can't be bothered covering bore-athons like the latest Kia Whatever or Honda Thingy but there really have been no new cars for a while now.

Even Autocar has been reduced to telling it's readers about the new Chery Beta 5, whatever the hell that is.  Sounds like an iPhone app.

The most recent car launch that was of any interest was the Maserati Ghibli, and that was only pictures. We've had to wrack our brains and come up with hopefully interesting stuff based on no new news such as this, this and this.

When a press release lands in the Speedmonkey inbox announcing the Fiat Punto Jet Black Edition it would normally be deleted.  Not this time.  This, dear reader, is the best new news in the new car news world for ages.  Lets try and summon some enthusiasm, eh?

WOW!  LOOK AT THIS!  IT'S A NEW SPECIAL EDITION OF THE POPULAR PUNTO 'SUPERMINI' - THE PUNTO JET BLACK EDITION!

(Was that enthusiastic enough?)

It costs £12,000 and will be as black as, erm, a jet.  It appeals to a young, sporty audience (apparently). It has a frugal, yet nippy (apparently) 1.4 litre engine with, wait for it, 8 whole valves!  That's AWESOME.

The Fiat Punto Jet Black has a staggering 77 horsepower.  It has a number of eye catching features (apparently) including Crossover Black Metallic paint!  It has Matt black stripes!  It has Jet Black badges!

Hang on.  Crossover Black Metallic paint is not Jet Black paint.

This is rubbish.  It should be called the Fiat Punto Crossover Black Metallic then, shouldn't it?

Oh well, here's a picture.
