Renault Alpine will be racing this car at Le Mans 2013

This is the car that Alpine will race at Le Mans and the ELMS (European Le Mans Series) this year.  The car, the Nº. 36 will be driven by Nelson Panciatici and Pierre Ragues at the ELMS rounds and will be joined for the Le Mans 24 Hours by Tristan Gommendy.

Renault Alpine will be making a sports car, in partnership with Caterham.  The  Nº. 36 race car will be Alpine's first outing as a brand at Le Mans in 35 years.

The car will enter the LMP2 category and looks like an evolution of the Nissan customer car that was raced last year by, amongst others, Martin Brundle.  Indeed the 500bhp V8 powerplant is a Nissan unit.

The Nº. 36 Alpine has a 6 speed X-trac gearbox, weighs 900kg and has a top speed of 205mph, important for the long straights at the Circuit de la Sarthe.
