The McLaren P1 is looking good, and shooting flames

New images and video of the McLaren P1 supercar

McLaren is 50 this year and, not one to rest on its laurels, is continuing to develop the P1 supercar.  This video and photos of the P1 in action come only a few months after it's official unveiling at the Paris Motor Show in September 2012.

McLaren reckon they have used Formula 1 technology and processes to develop the P1 into the ultimate supercar, including CFD and aerodynamic modelling.  The first prototype has hit the track.  As you can see in the video it looks and sounds phenomenal, with flames occasionally shooting out of its central exhaust.

McLaren is famed for it's attention to detail.  For an example have a close look at the camouflage on the P1 in the photos - it incorporates famous race tracks from around the world.

For more information about the P1 check the link here.  For now here's a brief rundown of what we know:

It'll cost in the region of £800,000
It'll have a power to weight ratio of 600bhp per tonne
It'll have 600kg of downforce
It'll do 0-60mph in under 3 seconds
Top speed will be way over 200mph
It looks even better in camouflage than in orange paint
