McLaren 12c Can Am Edition

The McLaren 12c Can Am Edition will make it's public debut at the Pebble Beach Concourse D'Elegance Weekend.

This is a track only concept for the North American market.  It weighs 1200kg and features a unique aerodynamic package with a 30% increase in downforce.

The engine in the 12c Can Am Edition is an uprated 630bhp version of the 3.8 litre twin turbo V8 that is found in the road going version of the 12c making it the most powerful version of the 12c to date.

The McLaren Orange colour is exciting not only for the rarified McLaren fans who know of its significance in the company's history but also because it looks fantastic.

The car is designed and built by McLaren GT - the race car arm of McLaren Automotive - who were responsible for the racing versions of the MP4 12c.  Twenty five examples of the MP4 12c GT3 are now being raced by private teams across Europe.  The Can Am Edition is the first car for the North American market to be produced by McLaren GT.

Being purely a concept at this stage, and designed as the ‘ultimate track car’, the 12C Can-Am Edition is not subject to the regular racing regulations, despite being based on the 12C GT3 race car.
