This little beauty is for sale in the Coys Auction section of the Autosport International Show at the Birmingham NEC. It's actually a replica of a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR.
The seller showed me round his car. It's got a space frame chassis and the bodywork is aluminium. The chassis number is the one that Fangio and Moss raced. Without poking around under the skin you wouldn't realise it's a replica.
The estimate is £150,000 to £180,000. Given that you can't tell it's a replica on the surface that might be something of a bargain.
