Spotted - Deathtrap TVR Cerbera

TVR Cerberas are immensely desirable machines.  Low, light, exclusive, powerful, gloriously noisy with a well sorted V8 (the same as in this), the Cerbera was one of the best looking cars ever to come from Blackpool.

Which is why they command a premium.  A half decent one will set you back more than £10,000.  In fact it's better to aim for a £12,000 or more Cerbera and make sure it has been well looked after and has a full service history, although the engine can handle oodles of miles.  To scrimp when purchasing is to uncover lots of gremlins and expensive horribleness later on.

On the other hand you could buy a Cerbera that comes with it's own unique set of qualities inbuilt.  This one, for example.  The full advert is reproduced below but to save you the bother of wading through it here are some highlights:

  • 20,000 miles - Good.  Nice and low
  • 1996 - Great.  1176 miles per year is a bit low though
  • 360bhp - A fine figure.  And the noise it makes producing that power is sublime
  • Lights and speedo not connected - Strange.  Wonder why?
  • Converted from RHD to LHD - WHAT???????

The actual text reads, "This car car has been converted from RHD (right hand drive) to LHD (Left hand drive). It just needs to have the cables to the lights and speedometer connected."

There's no mention of "professional job" or "conversion by TVR specialist".  Just "...has been converted..."

So, that's 360bhp in a tail happy, 1100kg car that's had the steering and pedals actually moved by someone, anyone from the right to left hand side.  It's not even a good job.  Look at the dash overhanging the door, and the speedo and rev-counter pointing towards the roof.

If you're in the market for a TVR Cerbera please, please take our advice (we love our readers) DON'T TOUCH THIS ONE.

Many thanks to +LateWheels.com for spotting this suicide machine and helping us warn all Speedmonkeys off it.

Here's the link to the ad.  Don't bid on it.  Some idiot already has.  They'll be sorry if they win it

TVR Cerbera 4.2 with 360 BHP in good condition in and out. This car car has been converted from RHD (right hand drive) to LHD (Left hand drive). It just needs to have the cables to the lights and speedometer connected.

VERY RARE CAR IN EUROPE, AS LEFT HAND DRIVE.

The reason i am seeling this lovely car is because It was keept in a dry garage and now the owner needs it, so I do not have space to keep it. Possibly I can take something in part exchange.

The TVR is available to view seven days a week and viewing is strongly recommended!

I do prefer if you could contact me on my mobile as I am not having acess to the computer very often.

For more information, please contact me on 07944790090.

Many thanks.

Happy bidding!
